Salisbury Astronomy

All,

Is anyone based in or near Salisbury interested in forming an astronomy society or an informal observing group? I live in Amesbury and travel to Andover and Basingstoke but would be interested in something more local.

There are some great observing sites on the Plain away from the light pollution and a few country pubs worth visiting!

Yep I would be interested in getting something off the ground. There used to be a Salisbury Plain Astronomical Group many years ago; I thought there was also a Salisbury Astronomy Society?

I have tried to contact the society without success so I presume that they have gone bust. Where abouts are you based?

I am just south of Devizes and also belong to MAD viewers who meet near Stourhead.

It is run by Charles and Maggie of MC2 in Frome; if you'd like to come along it would be a good idea to let Charles know, as the pub has a small meeting room we can arrange to have beforehand if required

The Salisbury Astronomical Society is alive and well. Once upon a time I would go there regularly, but I just don't have the time anymore....

The history of the SAS is very interesting and there are some lovely people who go.
