If my memory serves, this mount is rated to be able to carry 18Kg.

Just what is the actual weight limit before the mount's motors and gearing really start to falter ?

Just out of interest really-I can't imagine the tolerances are set so finely that it packs in at 18.1KG

Dunno Karlo but it's a pretty solid mount, I would think you could put quite a bit more on before damaging anything.

Depends on your intended usage. If 18 is the recommended limit it will doubtless be fine for visual, properly balanced of course. If you are into imaging then many regard 50% as a sensible limit. Also the length of scope can be critical if you are near the weight limit, polar moment of inertia and all that.
