second hand Meade LX50 EMC 8" otc tube only any good?

Hello everyone,seen a second hand Meade LX50 EMC 8" otc for a interesting price,it s got rings and dove tail so it would fit on my SW EQ5.

Any though on this scope?I never used a Smith Cassegrain before,looks like a old model.

Any advice appreciated.

Meade have used the same design for their SCT OTA's for decades, with improvements to the coatings now and then.

Watch out for the Corrector, the front piece of glass, having been removed for cleaning, has not been replaced in the same rotational position.

You should carry out a Star Test, or ask to see recent astro images.

My 2003 Meade LXD55 ota that cost £250 is a great scope so I wouldn't expect any problems but it's worth a check, after ensuring that it's properly collimated.
