M101, long FL

I guess that my new WO 66 would have been a more sensible choice for an object of this size. I usually mess something up when I change stuff around though so I stuck with the Meade LX90/EQ6 instead. Camera was SX MX716.

This was 64 minutes at f6.3 in 4min subs. I think it needs a lot more subs adding though as it's been stretched loads as it is. Maybe they'll be a chance to get some colour before the moon gets in the way!

Up close makes a pleasant change. Do go for colour if you can. In fact, if time permits, go for more luminance as well, I'd say, because I found that the result kept on improving on mine till I was at over 4 hours lum. It just got sharper and sharper.

Anyway, that's great already.

That is a nice image Olly, M101 is a faint [removed word] often lacking contrast and you have done a fine job there. Like the dusty arms in particular
