Stand alone skysense , setup issues.

Recommended Posts

Having bought  a used lt114az , I have removed the skysense unit and mounted it on the Skytee2 (on another thread I posted my diy acryllic mount  and skysense in situ).

Having set up in daylight to align my telescope (Starwave Ascent) and the skysense camera/image (I used an electric pylon some 150yds away), I waited unitll after dusk and hoped for the best.  It was  hit and miss affair, the screen prompts telling me sometimes it couldn't find position and often was searching. The screen comes up with the message that my phone (Oukitel wp5)  is compatible but unable to find  position.

The easist first target for me is Arcturus in Bootes as it is one of the first bright stars in the western sky to appear, two or three  times the unit briefly  acquired the correct azimuth   but more often then not it kept trying to realign and this ended with the azimuth being at least 45 degrees out.

Frustrated I tried my luck to NWN /North for Ursa Major and again found the azimuth align was out , so about 22.30hrs I put the Ascent to bed .

Daylight and I have gone into the settings to make adjsutments to the Lat /long coordinates also will try some of the other features to see if they help at all, so have enabled the camera setup assist & adv cam controls to see if they help.

I will have to try a realign later with the pylon and then wait for dark again to try out.

Not sure what might  be the issue  so will have to try and see if I can  sort it out.

Seeing was was worse tonight and still having no luck with the unit pickingup the night sky , it went thru a sequence of taking pictures at various speeds to ascertain it's whereabouts but failed miserably.  Facing West all I got was a  90 degree alignment to the North and the starsense not  being able to find correct position/azimuth. Don't no if it s the phone (though it is a listed compatible one) or the poor night sky ?

Slightly more cloud about tonight but visibility so so, tried again but no luck . System unable to find position in the sky.

I had a bit of a think and wondered if it was just down to an unclean starsense mirror ?   When I looked at it , it did look grubby  with marks/streaks  front to back like bug marks.  A gentle wash/clean   with soapy water and a dry off also the same with the phone lens,  realigned and we have contact .  The starsense this time has found it's place /position in the night sky.

The problem described seems more likely to be related to alignment and calibration issues with the Skysense unit, as indicated by the frequent difficulty in finding the correct position and azimuth. Cleaning the equipment may have helped in this specific case, but it might not have been the root cause of the initial alignment problems. By the way, if you're already tired of trying your luck, I want to tell you this story, so when I look at the stars - I get bored a lot and I started looking for how I could play something for money and I found this source https://casinosanalyzer.com/online-casinos/cashlib that helped me cash in my account with the help of cashlib, it was so convenient that now I go to look at the stars and actually stay up nights and play.

I have posted previously about this. I suddenly couldn’t get it to find its position in the sky after many months of working perfectly. I cleaned the mirror and also a fingerprint on the phone camera lens. Back to normal function.
