I know I have a 10 inch so why this, well just always wanted to try a small proper refractor.:)

Well it only cost me £10 off ebay and all looks good so I will try it on Saturn tonight...Its a skylux 70mm. A bit like those Lidl things...

Funnily enough, I sort of had the same idea as you - namely purchasing a "what the hell" scope and just messing about with it. I'm very techno-savvy but sometimes I like to return to basics (after all, Isaac Newton saw a lot with a very small telescope but he didn't have light polution either)

Less can sometimes be more. Indeed, I say this to myself a lot having a single speed / fixed gear bike in the collection.

Please post an observing report - I'd love to understand how you got on with your Obay scope.

Well it gives a nice view of Saturn and titan, some ghosting etc re abberation but nothing two severe...

Snapped the plastic slow mo attachment....Will need to get anther one, perhaps a skywatcher one....metal!

Also tried Caster, splits just fine...

And for faint objects tried M63 (sunflower thing) and it was visible as a smudge..

So all in all not bad...

A finder for my Dob, now there is an idea!
