star trails

Hi can anyone help me out.Lastnight i wanted to take a capture of a star tail i set the iso on 400 after 1 hr i had a look on the camera all i had was a bright cature with no stars.What iso should i set the camera to capture a star tail Thanks.Mark

Hi Mark,

Theres no need to keep the shutter open all the tiem - well no these days anyway... set the camera to take jpegs, set the mode to M exposure time to 30s and the apetrure to say ... start at the lowest... setting ISO to 400 or 800

Take a continous stream of jpegs and then combine them using the startrails application available from here...
