Altair Astro Gpcam

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been away from anything astronomy related for a long time due to health complications but I'm back and already hitting walls.

I have purchased an Altair Astro GPCAM (colour) however it seems incapable of running on a Windows 10 Pro platform. Whilst both my laptop and desktop detect the camera when I plug the camera into the usb2 port, the Altair capture program fails to detect the camera.

I've run through all the Trouble Shooting guidance on Altair's website but to no avail.

In need of advice and maybe a solution. All advice will be very much appreciated 🙂

Ultra wide 150 degree FOV F1.6p High Qualpns that fits into the nose of the GPCAM or other 1/3" Astro Cam to take near whole sky photographs of meteor showers or star rotation and such.

A lot of fun and gives images no other lens can manage. Should be in every astophotographers kit box.

Comes with CS adaptor with built in UV/IR block filter.

Product Information:

Altair GPCAM Wide Angle Meteor Lens Kit
For mono or colour GPCAM
150 degree FOV Lens
2.1mm Focal Length
F1.6 Focal Ratio
CS-Mount adapter with UV/IR blocking filter *
Macro ~ Infinity focus distance
FMC coatings
* This is a quality CS-mount adapter with built-in UV/IR blocking filter with colour balanced Dichroic coatings, and AR Coatings on both sides. 1.25" OD outer barrel to fit Altair GPCAM.

This is a good quality fixed focal length lens for 1/3" sensors, which is optimised for visual wavelengths for a sharp image. It is not a cheap IR lens.

What's in the box:
Lens body.
CS-mount adapter with built-in UV/IR blocking filter with colour balanced Dichroic coatings and AR Coated both sides.  1.25" OD outer barrel to fit Altair GPCAM.
Lens cap.
Uses:
Learn to setup and use your GPCAM camera settings without having to attach to telescope.
Meteor imaging using the Time Lapse feature in AltairCapture software.
Because lens barrel and CS mount adapter is under 1.25" OD lens can be inserted into telescope focuser for collimation like an eyepiece.

I have the 224 (mainly for tracking but will be used for planets etc)  I have it working on 10 and 11.  I had to do as mentioned by franklin, install the AltairCapture and maybe the ASCOM software.
