I won't have a view of this, but for those who do it should make a pretty sight over the next two days....

Thanks for the Heads up Geoff ... due to the lighter evenings this will be a bit challenging as a lot of the Beehive will be a bit faint , but its certainly worth a go :)

Also at 7.45pm it's broad daylight and will still be twilight at 10pm. How long will it be adjacent to the beehive?.

Spotted the conjunction just now with the APM 16x70 binoculars, in about 12° elevation above the local horizon, dimmed by the astronomical twilight (23.30 CEST) and the almost full moon. Still a nice view; the red planet just N of the "Heart of the Crab" asterism, a sidewards tilted "V", the tip pointing to the SW (shown in the OP's screenshot). I was able to count about two dozen stars, and got the impression of a very faint glow of more background stars. So, not the usual splendid look of the Beehive, but more of a very sparse open cluster. Nevertheless rewarding; and a good start of a sunny weekend.

Thanks for reading

Stephan
