Quick light curve of VW CEP

Recommended Posts

Here is a light curve of VW CEP from last night. A sequence of 251 5s subs through my ED80 and ASI224MC, with the green channel extracted and aligned and measured using AstroImageJ. Comparison stars were BD+74 876, BD+75 751, TYC 4585-746-1 and TYC 4585-3097-1 (Green), to get a T-G plot.

I didn't realise until I closed up that it was getting cloudy towards the end of the run (as can be seen by the final few readings which are not close to the 25 bin average line) and maybe there was fine cloud going over from about phase 0.0.75 onwards. Despite the cloud I'm happy with this attempt. I think I could have defocused more and extended the exposure - something to try next time.

It is a nice easy bright target for a modest scope and camera - so give it a go!
