Do I want to Stretch Intensity Levels ?

Hi, I have been using Registax 6 for processing and get asked the above question when first opening a file.

Please can anyone give advice on whether this should be done or not, or what it means?

I’ve tried both options and I can’t say I can see any difference, but then I am very new to planetary photography.

Any help gladly received.
