That New Quattro 150P - What's it like?

Here are the two primary mirror masks.

The one on the right is the Backyard Universe version, slightly with a smaller width and with bevel

On the left is the plastic one slightly thicker.

Beautiful! Can you pls-pls measure the inner diameter of it 🤩?

I am throwing things in the basket ATM, mirror mask, advanced Bahtinov, motor focuser (never had one...) , will also look around if I need anything special for collimation apart the chesire eyepiece I got...

I'll add a focus motor, would this one be a good fit? https://www.firstlightoptics.com/pegasus-astro/pegasus-astro-motor-focus-kit-universal-v2.html

If Asiair compatibility is an issue, I don't have one and likely I won't get one.

No this make is not compatible with asiair, but they are very good plus you can still use manual focus with the pegasus.

Ended up with a Hitecastro ascom only unit, will see how far that one goes. Came with hand controller, "manual" focus question is sorted.

My latest mod to the Quattro, I bought the carbon fibre tube from Backyard Universe. Along with the CNC milled tube rings. The CYCK spider fits perfectly.

latest mod

Looks good.

Here's our way with tube flexure. That, along with a geared focuser.
(Note to self: I shall get that third axis to balance in a more elegant fashion!)

But TBH, with the amount of time, work and energy spent on this, not to mention cost, I get the feeling it would have been better buying something which just works. AKA as a TS UNC. Dunno...

Cheers and wishing CS to all.

This also looks cool but not AS cool :)

I don't like the sw sparkly black finish, same as on my 72ed. Id prefer the sparkles only in my images :)

that link to the unc is interesting. Looks cool and might save me a lot of hassle. Plus only 4kg? I weighed my own payload and it's 3.1kg. scope and rings are 1.8kg according to Flo's website. I could almost use this on my mount.

Impressive, I can say at the very least, I have not needed to do all those mods, very little really.

I bought the CF tube as I did not want to invest in a GSO CarbonStar from Apertura. That itself is around $700-$800.

It's just cheaper to buy the CF tube, CYCK spider and CNC tube rings.

For anyone reading this and is thinking about buying the BU CF tube. You would have to use longer screws for the focuser and finder scope bracket mounting. Which clearly is not stated on the FLO page. That's because the CF tube is 2.2mm thick then the stock 1mm thick tube.

No flexure was observed last night on my imaging run.

LOL, thanks. Not too elegant...

But hey, it was the final piece of the holding-colimation-and-focus-at-all-angles puzzle. You even get to use the use the frame directly after meridian flip;)
