Aquila 23/09/22

Recommended Posts

This was only a short session. Conditions started out really good with steady seeing and good transparency - I was easily able to see mag 11 stars with the 102mm which is unusual for my LP.

Date and Time: 23/09/2022, 23:30 to 01:15
Scope: Starfield 102mm f7 FP53.
Eyepieces: LVW 42mm x19 (finder); Nirvana 16mm x45; Nirvana 10mm x71, Nirvana 16mm + Televue x2.5 Powermate x112; Nirvana 10mm + Televue x2.5 Powermate x179

AG 391 - a very wide pair, orange and blue, well seen at x45
π Aql - Nice. A good clean split in moments of steadier seeing. x179.

AG 397 - Slightly uneven, wide pair close to a 7 mag star and two other fainter stars. Decided to draw this one. AG 397 is the pair in the middle.

Σ 2590 - a fairly bright primary with a very faint dot at the 10 o'clock position. x71.

Break for an hour to look a Jupiter

Σ 2543 - secondary not seen
Σ 2566 - secondary not seen

It appears from the last two that transparency (and seeing) had deteriorated badly. Σ 2566 secondary is only mag 10.1 and a decent split (26.7"). I suspect thin high cloud to be the culprit. So, called it a night. Short but sweet as they say. At least the new Nirvanas performed well - doing exactly what I bought them for.
