astrolulu
Thanks! This year we probably won't see much more. Pity...
markse68
It's going to get a fair bit bigger yet- not as big as it was last time but bigger than next apparition https://alpo-astronomy.org/jbeish/2022_MARS.htm Mark
CraigT82
Yes will get up to 17.2" at opposition so should be able to get some real surface detail on a disc that size, will be a while before we see the 22" disc of 2020 again though Nice image btw the wide FoV gives it a real planet-hanging-in-space feeling which I like
astrolulu
Thanks, I just had a discussion about it on the CN forum where one of the famous planetary gurus criticized this way of presenting the image. For me, however, it is very suggestive and close to what we see in the eyepiece during visual observations, when a small planet lost in infinite space makes a huge impression - especially when you realize that it is in fact a huge globe!
CraigT82
Well that’s CN for you! I personally like it, I can zoom in if I want to get close but I do enjoy the open space feeling the full frame gives. Lovely stuff. Would be very boring if everyone did the same thing.
