roger jerome
I am using a ZWO ASI 120MC camera and cannot get gain more than 100. Is there a setting where one could get a higher range of gain? Thank you
The Lazy Astronomer
From this chart, 100 gain seems to be the maximum for this camera. What's the reason for desire for higher gain?
andrew s
That's as high as it goes from looking at the data sheet Here. What are you trying to do? Regards Andrew

If that's what you're after. Cheers and HTH Edited August 29, 2022 by alacant

astrolulu
The higher you set the gain, the more noisy the image becomes. The more noisy the image, the more difficult it is to sharpen the details while avoiding sharpening the noise grains.
Cosmic Geoff
What capture program are you using? In Sharpcap 4 there is no problem in turning up the gain from 100 to 350 or so. I did exactly that when I was using my ASI120MC with Sharpcap 3.
