Farewell to Orion (& Monoceros)

Recommended Posts

Got home last night and as the children were out at the Grandparents and my better half was on a late shift. I took the opportunity to grab an hour observing a Orion and Monoceros before they go for another year.

STF915 white/yellow

A neat pair, quite wide. The primary is cream and the secondary is yellow. The field is rich with bright and faint stars.

STF926 white/blue

A very rich field, the pair were easily split in at x94. Several other visual doubles in the field.

STF788 white/orange/no colour

An apparent triple. Shares FOV with STF789.

STF789 white/no colour

A wide double. Large difference in magnitude

STF797 white/yellow

Easy to split at x94. A nice colour contrast, a neat line of stars to the West running North/South.

STF816 yellow/orange

A very uneven pair showing a subtle colour contrast. Quite close at x84

STF855 white/white

A wide pair of stars, both white. Would be a good target in small scope or Binos.

Cheers

Ian
