DSLR+Celestron 4SE

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

What is the best way to hook up a DSLR (Canon Rebel T3i) with the Celestron Nexstar 4SE? I've tried some options (Celestron MAK extension, etc...) but my pictures are not sharp. Obviously, I have to deal with some backfocusing issues but so far I could not find the right combination of visual back, extension tubes, etc... to get sharp pictures. Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I am using a T-adapter. Strange thing, though, that the image is sharp on the DSLR LCD display but less after capture.  I am using a remote shutter controller to avoid shaking.

Are you using a bahtinov mask to help focus?  I found it really hard trying to focus just looking at the live view on a DSLR and I kept getting it slightly wrong before I used a mask.  Zooming in the live view on a star with the mask on is the only way I've reliably got focus right.
