Solarsphere 2022 - cancelled

Recommended Posts

I'm not officially connected with Solarsphere, but I thought I'd post a quick note to let people know that Solarsphere have decided to cancel their plans for 2022

As per their announcement today.

Dear Friends of Solarsphere,
It is with a heavy heart we bring you the sad news of Solarsphere Astronomy and Music Festival being cancelled for 2022 for a variety of reasons.

You might not be aware, but Solarsphere is a small, family run, not for profit festival, relying heavily on volunteers. Our team is now even smaller due to the impact of what the last couple of years has brought.

We have talked in depth about the risks of going ahead with the event with a depleted team and with covid infections currently being 1 in 16 and feel that due to Solarsphere involving lots of sharing of personal space, materials and equipment, that we should be sensible and take responsibility by not creating an environment which would no doubt increase infections, especially now that testing is very limited.

We are also seeing performers cancelling at other events due to Covid. This can happen for several reasons but appears to be more common currently. To try and find replacements for musicians, speakers and staff last minute is always an effort, and something we have had to deal with most years, however, we predict that Covid will only make this a bigger challenge, and now with such a small team, we couldn't guarantee we would be able to meet expectations, which would in turn impact on the quality, enjoyment and safety of the event. This is something we could not compromise.

We understand life goes on, however, we're very clear as a family that our event will not happen until we can be in a less infectious environment and without additional challenges that we might not be able to meet.

We thank you for your wonderful support and patience. We will keep everyone updated with future plans.

People who have bought tickets through Ticketmaster will be refunded in the usual way.

If people have bought direct, they should contact Sarah themselves.
