AstroVideo and capture software.

This is all new to me so let me explain.

I thought why don't I try some video astrophotography. I have a Sony handycam that has a DV output which basically is a firewire port. My laptop has a firewire port as well and reading up on it I can use this cam as a webcam.

Question is whats the best software to use to capture what the cam puts onto the laptop screen.

I need software thats not dedicated to certain products it needs to find and run Sony cams

ANy good? Its dealt with every camera I've thrown at it. Toucam, DMK, Logitech, Mintron.........
