First light - SW Esprit 80mm

I pulled the trigger on a lovely ED 80 and went for a large, bright target for first light.

The Eta Carina Nebula in the constellation of Carina.

A massive binary star patiently waiting for its supernova demise....in the meantime the ultraviolet radiation and huge stellar winds make the whole area glow in this beautiful way.

Lovely to see the southern hemisphere targets.  Nicely done.

Many thanks....

Its nice to see someone from Somerset 😊

I was born and ‘brung up’ in Taunton, although I’ve been living in New Zealand for the last thirty years.

Cheers,

Well I'm born and bred here too, a former Heathfield School student.

It's easy to forget how small this world is!

I went to priory boys just before it merged with heathfield 👍 1975-1980
