27th Jan Session

Recommended Posts

Getting prepared, I got a chart out for the Alpheratz - Algenib - Hamal triangle. The area crept over to the west a bit more rapidly than I thought so I didn't complete everything on my list. Still a good session though.

All observations with a Starfield 102mm f7 FPL53 Apo.

Σ3058 - Easy pair at x60. Fainter secondary both white.

Σ24 - Slightly uneven pair; very nice at x102

h1032 - A wide paid with a faint secondary. Primary orangish in colour, secondary white.

Σ28 - A wide, even white pair at x60

Σ61 - An even white pair - looks like a mini Castor at x220!

Σ73 - Very challenging! Looked better at x220 than x330. Elongated with occasional impressions of a split. The excellent seeing helped a lot here.

Σ47 An uneven, white, easy pair. x60.

H V 12 - A very wide pair at x60.

Σ174 - A close, even pair. Split at x102 but looked better at x220.

Σ175 - Very wide at x60.

γ Ari - A nice, bright, even pair at x60

Σ742 - well away from the others, but next to the crab nebula (main target). A very nice even pair at x60.
