Hello all,

Finally had enough dosh to buy some gear to do some astrophotography.

Decided on a astromodded Canon 1100d from cheapastrophotography. A Samyang 135mm f/2.0 lens and the skywatcher star adventurer.

My first time doing any astrophotography, so lots to learn over time.

First image taken on Tuesday 22nd November with some rare clear skies lol.

Lights: 68x60s (1h 8m) Darks: 20 Flats 20 Bias 40. ISO800@f2.8

Stacked in DSS and processed best I could in Photoshop.1635119539_22-11-2021NorthAmericaNebula2JPEG.thumb.jpg.6129e9c38ea2716eba2ec11b069e4333.jpg

Welcome to SGL and thanks for posting lots of friendly folks on here they have helped me on my journey in AP. I am a couple years in now but still learning every day there so much to see out there and learn whether its in the field, equipment or processing, but I love it and I am sure you will too. You have gone with a great starter kit as well cant go wrong with the SY135 I have one myself and love it. I also started with a star tracker and Canon 800D as well watch out for that rabbit hole I am sure you have heard of! Good luck in your AP journey :)

Thanks guys, yes i saw lots of images taken with the Samyang lens so was sold on that. For my first attempt I'm pleased and sure i will get better as time goes on.

I live in bortle 6 skies, 1 min subs seemed to be pushing it i think. Histogram was quite a bit over to the right on a single sub. Thinking of getting a CLS filter but council pretty much changed all street lamps to LED though a couple of old sodium lights remain nearby to my back garden.

i read its not worth it with those new LED lights though?

thanks for the kind welcome 👍
