Low power eyepiece for Celestron C6.

I have recently added a C6 SCT to my Arsenal of instruments. I have enjoyed using it to observe the planets. I fully understand that it's primary function is for the moon and planets. I have though had pleasing views with my 80° Nirvana 16 mm eyepiece, an 1 1/4 inch configuration. This has got me thinking about the lowest power 1 1/4 inch eyepieces to use with the C6.

There is the Televue 25 mm Plossl and the Televue and Explore Scientific

24 mm 68 ° . I wonder which of these would suit being used in my C6?

Well I use a Vixen NLVW 30mm which gives nice 65 degree views in my C8 SCT, so don’t see why the 68 degree won’t do well in you C6. Of course whether it would be better than the Televue might only be apparent with a side by side comparsion.

Should have said it’s a 2” EP not a 1.25” EP.

The 24mm / 68 will show you a larger true field than the 25mm / 50 degree TV plossl of course. The 16mm Nirvana shows you a larger TF than the 25mm plossl as well actually.

Not sure I would go with wide field low power eyepieces on F/10 scope?

There is limit imposed by field stop and wide field implies that focal length is short - and exit pupil goes down as a result.

24mm 68° and 32mm 50° plossl will give you same TFOV. Plossl will work just fine at F/10 with no aberrations. First will have 2.4mm exit pupil and second will have 3.2mm.

I think that 3.2mm EP will be better than 2.4mm EP on low power view.

Am I being silly for thinking that?
