new region: AR 2846

Today is another good day for observing the Sun (a positive aspect of this heatwave :) ) 

I was out at 8:30am with Skymax 127 and spotted a new region 2846 has rotated into view, it has two or three spots and quite a lot of bright faculae around.

Meanwhile AR 2842 has developed nicely into a bunch of spots, I counted seven, just when it is on the way to the edge.

The seeing was pretty good, could see hints of the granulation already at x150.

I was looking yesterday evening and thought I spotted a new AR on the limb. Great to get it confirmed

Yes, I saw that one right on the limb yesterday lunchtime. Will have another look soon hopefully

AR2846 was AR2838 in a previous life 🙂.

Managed to take my first solar image and of AR2846 with my TeleVue Ranger, Lunt Herschel Wedge, AstroBoot 18mm e/p, Baader single polarising filter and iPhone 12 handheld over the eyepiece...

  

The post processing was with one of MS-Windows 10 pre-installed paint/image apps to convert it from .HEIC to .JPG

I did try with the Baader Solar Continuum filter as well, but the image was not as good.
