New arrivals for the "Turret setup": Takahashi Ortho and LE

Fedele

Recommended Posts

Just a couple of pairs left for my "turret set". Certainly the LE 12.5 to replace the two FF12s.
Takahashi Abbe Ortho MC 32 mm
Takahashi Abbe Ortho MC 18 mm
Takahashi LE MC 7.5 mm
Takahashi Abbe Ortho MC 6 mm
Others: Baader Ortho 10 mm, TeleVue Ploss 25 mm, FF 12 mm (passing through).
I confirm the high mechanical quality, treatments and blackening of all internal surfaces, both of the Ortho and LE.  The transparency of the glass is very good. Absence of reflexes.
Tested in turret with Mewlon: excellent contrast, black sky background. The stars are point-like throughout the field, with a slight coma only at the extreme edge (But to be tested with another flat field instrument. I think it is only the instrument's coma in fact).
With the LE 7.5, it is a sight to see the diffraction rings of the stars in focus in Mewlon.
I took a tour of the open clusters in Auriga (before the summer). With the Starbook it was fun and easy to do a little tour of these clusters, always centering them in the field at any focal length and enjoying them with really beautiful images, both with 32 mm and with 18 mm.
The field is not so much, even in 32 mm, but it is all enjoyable (I remind you that we are talking about orthoscopes and a mewlon)
Truly minimal and non-annoying parallax. Good eye relief for the chosen focal lengths, even in the LE 7.5, where we have a good field despite the short focal length. With the latter, the disk of Mars, low on the horizon, was very clear.
The choice of the LE model with a focal length of 7.5 mm is quite apt. I should have kept the 18mm LEs and I will have to equip myself with the 12mm.
Eyepieces purchased from the Italian importer Skypoint

Wait until you look at the Moon with a TOE 4 mm, silky smooth views. Highly recommended.

You going to get a turret for the above?

The Star book Ten makes touring the skies very easy doesn't it.

Only criticism is you cannot upload a viewing list of say double stars, have to use another program for that.
