A quick night with the 'twins'.

Now I have your attention, I spend 130hr or so at the Gemini observing its nebulas. I started with the Eskimo since I had not seen it before. A diffuse planetary nebula but with clear indication of its star in the centre. The conditions were really nice and it easily took my 8mm EP (with and without my OIII filter); the filter brought out the central star. I tried NGC 2371 (Gemini nebula) and I could just make it with the filter on; it looked like a bloated elongated star. It did not take magnification well and it became too dark. When my eyes were not strained I could almost make a separation in the middle with the 15mm EP (like two lobs). I then realised that this is my faintest planetary nebula I had observed so far (MAG 13). I finally had a go at Medusa nebula (PK205+14.1) with the OIII. It filled my FOV (25mm EP) and it showed as a delicate diffuse light grey mist. It was distinct from the rest of the sky, as I moved away the sky became darker again. Very pleased with the Gemini and star hoping was nice and easy.

I thought since the skies were clear to check the Cat's eye with the filter; in comparison to my previous observation, I could make a dim hallo around the main nebula (only on the 15mm EP). I also looked at Turtle nebula (NGC 6210) in Hercules, another first. Nice planetary nebula that took the 8mm EP.

A few new nebulas to me tonight so going to bed very pleased.
