Nova Cas 2021

Just announced a couple of days ago.  I had a go last night but was defeated by clouds.  And tonight also clouded over, but not before i'd acquired an hour of data,  so here it is.  I cropped the image to put the nova in the centre.  The bright (blue) star near it is mag 9.1, the even brighter one lower left is mag 6.6, so I reckon the nova is around mag 8.  The parent star afaik was mag 14.4 - a heck of a jump - quite a big bang!

The nova is a noticeably different colour to all the other stars in that image.

Great image. I love all vibrant colours in the stars. I had my own attempt last night. I’m very much a causal imager so not up to your standards but was pleased to get M52 in there.
