6th APRIL 2006

Seeing 8/10

Transparancy 8/10

Temp 0 - 2 degrees

Moon 25%

Scopes used.

ED80 Pro Piggy backed on a 8" Newtonian.

120mm Refractor.

The ED80 piggy backed on a 8" Newt, just about balances on a HEQ5 with both weights. The two scopes compliment each other for observing and imaging or providing different views.

At medium to high powers in the ED80 Saturn was well defined and crisp, giving a very pleasing view of the Cassini division.

In the 8" Newt the image was huge!! Some surface detail could be seen along with clearly defined divisions within the ring structure....

According to the wife, a wow factor of 8/10. (What would deserve a 10/10 beats me!!!).

Observed through the 120mm Frac on a HEQ3, the planet surface showed some detail at 200x and again the Cassini division was well defined. The magnification levels could have been pushed further for a better view - however we had other targets in mind.....
