Dodging Clouds

Hi my fellow stargazers! Had a brief session last night dodging clouds and viewing in between gaps of cloud. Seeing was great whenever I found a clear patch of sky though!

NGC 2362: This is the Tau Canis Majoris cluster. Beautiful sight with compact blue stars in a circular shape.

M93: Beautiful open cluster in Puppis, two prominent red stars in this cluster.

NGC 2516: Lovely open cluster in Carina, the southern beehive

M46: Nice view, couldn't spot the planetary imbeded within it though.

M41: Lovely wide cluster in Canis Major.

Rigel split with companion star directly below. Stunning!

Finally observed Mars with Uranus close by. These two planets are getting closer, great colour contrast through my trusty 10". A very brief but satisfying session, happy to get some action between the pesky clouds! Stay safe my fellow stargazers and clear skies!

Nice going Joe.  Like the enthusiasm!  I do the same - grab opportunities between the clouds.  Had a bit of Moon action that way recently.  Currently busy planning upcoming sessions.

Hi Doug. Yes sometimes we have to make the most out of bad situations (cloudiness😱). It's great to plan upcoming sessions, gives us something to look forward to! Wishing you clear skies to come!

Nice report, I had overlooked Uranus and Mars being close, I think they can be squeezed into one field in a scope, being only about 1.5 degrees apart, I'll give this a go if there is any gap in the clouds soon... which isn't likely!

Hi Paz. Yes Mars and Uranus are currently quite close. Observed them both again last night, they are both in my 9x50 finderscope field of view. Cheers
