Help and advice required regarding Nikon 7x50 tropical rubber armour

Hi greetings all I was lucky enough to find and win an auction for a pair of vintage Nikon 7x50 tropical binoculars complete with its body armour,I did my research first and found that these were a very respected binocular.

Being a Nikon pro DSLR user for many years I thought it was time I owned a pair of binoculars.The bidding started at just £40  I managed to win them for just £52.

I have not received them yet but wanted to know if the rubber body armour could be restored as it has seen better days or should I take it off completely?

Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.
