HEQ5 & HEQ5 PRO

Hi folks,

whats the difference between the HEQ5 Syntrek and the HEQ5 PRO synscan ?

Is it GOTO ?

Alo does the PRO has a guideport?

The pro one has goto and guide port, the syntrek mount head is identical but you don't get the goto handset, just one with the direction buttons on.

Either will work with a computer and some bits to give you full control via a cable.

Thanks. It seems a big price difference just for Goto from the handset. I assume that with suitable software, the non pro mount with a laptop can be made to guide?

Also just to confirm, the lower spec mount has rs232 port to allow Goto from a laptop with stellarium etc?

The HEQ5 (Non Pro) can be made to autoguide but thats as far as it can go. It's also not quite as good at autogiding as the slowest speed the mount can move is 1X

The HEQ5 PRO has a handset with full GoTo functionality as well as an autoguide port. This model can also be computer controlled to allow full integration with things like starry night etc and also works with EQMod to allow saome fancy stuff to go on!

The HEQ5 Syntrek - Think of it as an HEQ5 Pro but with a non pro handset, you can connect it up to a laptop etc to give the same functionality as the HEQ5 Pro but you cannot use the pro functions stand alone so to speak
