What is the optimal time of the year to observe/image the Milky Way core from South of the UK?

Hi all,

So, i live in the South of the UK and have only recently attempted to point my camera in the MW core direction, but only got to Scutum. I can see Sag, but its very low. So, my question is: when would you recommend to attempt? Looking at Stellarium, it looks like a very fine line between elevation and time of year, meaning daytime hours. 

I think its pretty much over now till year.

Optimum time, end of June after midnight.
It's always quite low for the UK even in the optimum time.

Get some height and no LP it's doable from the south coast.

I’ve always enjoyed it most in August as it is darker then and still well positioned. On 15th August say, M22 transits at just after 10pm in Nautical twilight.
