Lens for eyes pieces

Hi all I’m currently using a sky watcher 250p dob and only have 2 eye pieces 12mm and 7mm but have no filters and don’t know a lot about them would they improve any detail or color  to the night sky or planets ?  Probably a dumb question and I can only apologize

I rarely use coloured filters and find more specialised filters much more usefull but reading the guide will give you a good introduction.

Thanks  I will have a read just looking for something to dim the planets a little bit as they seemed very bright the other night

A neodymium filter is the best for planets I think. 

For nebulae you should consider UHC and OIII filters, but you will need some longer focal length eyepieces for larger exit pupils and fields of view.
