First real attempt at M31

20 subs @ 180s/11 darks/50 bias. Stacked in DSS and PP in PS CC. Shot with Nikon D750 unmixed and an old Nikkor 200mm f4 prime at 5.6. Tracked on an LXD-55 mount. A 300-400mm probably would have yielded better results.

Very nice, I think 200mm is fine, any more could risk clipping off the faint outer dust lanes. There does look to be a slight magenta tone to the background and stars though.

Star shapes look good, overall its a good take on M31,

colours are not far off at all, as someone has already said you have a little magenta in there

apart from that I would  be well pleased with that result.
