M81, M82, and comet PANSTARRS

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum.

Recently I bought a William Optics Zenithstar 61 to use with my Star Adventurer mount, which I bought some time ago. I saw in a Sky at Night Magazine article that comet PANSTARRS would be passing close to M81 and M82 and would fit nicely into the field of view of my new telescope so I thought I would have a go imaging it.

The following image was taken last week on Friday 22 May and consists of 89 x 60 second frames taken with a Canon EOS 100D (stacked in Deep Sky Stacker and processed in GIMP). I'm quite pleased with how it turned out compared to my previous attempts using the standard zoom lenses - the optical quality of the refractor is so much better!

Thanks for looking 😀

Very nice image. With you having the star adventurer mount, check out the dedicated thread to that mount
