skywatcher startravel 80mm refractor

hello,iam an absolute beginner with no experience with telescopes whatsoever,i have bought a 80mm refractor for my daughter,we are really struggling to get the thing to focus properly even on quite large objects like the moon,is there anything quite simple that i might be doing wrong.

You might be focusing too fast and whizzing past the point of focus. Once you get near to focus you need to move the focuser quite slowly.

Hi Phill, you did put the diagonal onto the end prior to putting your eyepiece in. If you did just ignore me :scratch:
