What do gear sets do?

Just wondering what gear sets on focusers actually do, what difference do they make, and are they at all really worth it?

It gives you a fine tuner, turning the single speed focuser into a dual speed, thereby giving you much more accurate focusing. Definitely worth it

Second getting the dual speed upgrade. The stock focuser is really good but the fine focusing makes it even better.

Thanks for the advice! May consider this a good upgrade then as i noticed it's slightly fiddly to focus on small stars. How do you go about installing this? Has that black hole (on the photo) got a screw in it that keeps the knob in place or?

Very easy job. Mentioned in the manual. One potential problem when fitting it is failing to leave a small gap between the two knobs. If jammed up tight against each other the fine focus may not work. Just make sure there is a tiny gap between the two knobs so they work correctly.
