paul mc c
If your only interested in viewing planets and moon, you wouldnt really need a goto as most are easily visible,a big chunk of expense is the goto option.https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dobsonians/skywatcher-skyliner-250px-dobsonian.html This would show you more than enough with money to spare. Beardy30
What about DSO ?
paul mc c
You never mentioned DSO's on your post, yes the goto is great for finding fainter objects, but a 5" mirror v a 10" mirror,is no contest for DSO's.
Beardy30
So you think the dob is a better option ? than the NexStar 130 SLT or the Skymax 127 ?
paul mc c
Im sure they are great scopes,i suppose other factors come in to play,ie portability, space grab and go,but you will see a lot more in the likes of a 10" or even an 8" scope. Its not easy picking a scope, but it is what suites your own needs. Louis D
Will you be observing from your backyard or will you have to haul it somewhere in a car to observe?
