Anyone upgraded the motors in an EQ6 goto?

I doing a full strip and regrease and bearing replacement in my aging EQ6 Pro mount - Im not paying £70 a pop for new motors as they seem to be standard NEMA17 ones which can be sourced on ebay for very little money - just wondered if this is correct and has anybody replaced the EQ6 Pro motors with NEMA 17's?

It would depend on the driver\motor combination, SW usually uses 4 pole bipolar motors, so as long as any replacement motor, works with their driver, and it fits the mounting, then you should be ok...

But why change them in the first place ??  if they are being driven correctly, then there's no point. you may well have issues with worn gears, but that's another problem.....
