Hi everyone

Using this coma corrector which a visitor had brought along. We have the same model but this example gives much better stars. Both look and feel the same and both are unbranded. Quality control? Also tried a moon filter thinking it would remove moon gradient; wishful thinking indeed. It's a little 'milky' and not sure about the colour. As always, all comments most gratefully received.

Great image, @alacant. My guess is too that the difference is one of quality control. They are both probably made in the same (chinese?) factory. Have you done an imaging comparison? It would be nice to see two identical images side by side.

Unfortunately not. I no longer have use of the good one. The best I could do would be a shot of 405 with our existing version; that may throw up some differences. Ours was around €30 a few years ago (when AliExpress didn't know how much they could charge for coma correctors?) Now look! Maybe the new batches are better. Dunno. Getting and paying...

Yeah I am going to go with quality control. I have often wondered how many times people blame the scopes optics when problems are actually being caused by the corrector.
