Sorry Mods if in wrong place or already mentioned but just seen this.

 

Celestron has reinvented the manual telescope with StarSense Explorer-”the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time.

I don't know how much it will cost, or when it's available.

As far as I can tell - it's some sort of projection device that uses smart phone to image stars reflected on that projection device and do plate solve for aiming information.

I think something like that could be done in DIY for any sort of manual mount if we could figure out how projection device works.
