Using Deepskystacker

Hello All,

i am a very beginner in this file, so i hope i am not posting anything already discussed.

In these days i made several images of Costellation with my camera Canon EOS750d, 18-135mm.

When i process them in Deepskystacker i have several issues i cannot solve:

1. file tiff is estremely heavy for my laptop, and i don't find any other software to crop it or just see it (lightroom too heavy too)

2. colour management: how does that work?

GIMP is free and a lighter footprint then Lightroom.

I would do the processing in GIMP and just use DSS to create your stack. There is also Sequator also free which is very good if your images have static foreground in the shot.

Files for astrophotography will always be bigger than the JPEGs you see most of the time. JPEG is a very clever compression format but it throws away some of the data necessary for getting the absolute most out of astro images.
