Good link - but I wondered if the relative abundance of the discovery of this type of planet could be a function of our detection methods / equipment? I don't know much about the different detection methods, but are we not just at the limits of detection with this mass of planet?

Well you may well be right but for sure detection rates are getting higher as more techy stuff becomes availble so its only time before its going to detect much smaller mass planets at quick rates also one things for sure we are in for some pretty exciting times the way the world of progress is moving by 2020 if the 1Km square comes to fruition I think its going to show a vast amount of discoveries very quickly IMHO
