NGC 2389 with FT data

Getting really rusty with the ongoing 10/10ths cloud in Shropshire, not even a few breaks to allow me to set up SGP in the new observatory.

So made an imaging request  via the  Faulkes Telescope Project. This is 3 single exposures of RGB, totalling 400 secs. The images were aligned and processed in APP. Data was provided by the Las Cumbres Observatory, accessed via Perton Library Astronomy Group.

Ooh, nice one. How big is that telescope?

I believe it is the 2 metre Faulkes RC Telescope North, (see photo below) operated by the Las Cumbres Observatory at the Haleakala location in Hawaii.

Nice! How do you make an imaging request to them, who are allowed to do it, and what does it cost?

My understanding is the Las Cumbres Observatory have a world wide astronomy outreach project and educational institutions can request free telescope imaging time on a number of telescopes in the Southern Hemisphere as part of this project. I suggest targets to my local library astronomy group who are affiliated to this project,  they submit the request and if time is available, the subs (a limited number, due to time constraints) are made available. This data is then available in the public domain.
