I had all but talked myself into one of these when I googled C8-SGT

A couple of posts on here suggested this model has a poor second hand value. Am I better waiting for it to be discounted more?

Am sure you can understand I don't want to lash out 1K and see it selling for £700 in January

Anything you buy new is going to loose money - at least the VAT element - straight away. Unless you're thinking of buying a new scope every year, you probably wont notice it too much.

In my opinion it would be a fantastic start, and give you years of imagining pleasure (and there are allways lots of accessories to buy later on).

I have a C8-SCT and HEQ5 pro and can never see me parting with them

That's the C8-S GT you quoted as being discontinued. The current model is the C8-S GT XLT with current XLT coatings. There are no current plans, as far as I am aware, to discontinue this model, see
