Walking on the Moon

Alphonsus Dark Halo Craters

Recommended Posts

Here is the first of the large number of lunar images I took lats night (6th December). This one is of the crater Alphonsus. Of particular are the dark areas some of the small craters of the floor of Alphonsus (L47 of the Lunar 100). These 'Dark Halo Craters' are thought by some to be volcanic fumorles, although they may be where impact craters have excavated darker underlying rock.
