AUGUST 26TH - GASSENDI, J HERSCHEL, BAILLY ETC

Out from about 2.50 to 4.30 this morning.  Seeing poor at first but better as the Moon rose higher.

A beautiful  24.5% waning crescent moon.  Gassendi was exceptionally well placed, as were the Jura Mtns (right on the terminator), J.Hershel, Schickard, Wargentin and Bailly very foreshortened on the S limb.

Gassendi was probably the best I've ever seen it, its' floor looked as if it had rubble strewn across it, it really couldn't have been better placed.  I'm hoping someone with a high res set up posts a pic which does it justice - visually using my binoviwer and 16.8mm Orthos it was stunning.

All the pics are taken with the SW 120ED and Olympus E-M5 Mk11 and are crops of one frame taken at 04.06, 1/60 sec, 500 asa on the AZ4.
