DSLR: Does it need a rest between exposures?

Sorry for another question, but what voltage would I set that on for the 400D?

start low and work up wahts the voltage marked onthe battery the 350D is 7.4V

Think its 7v on the 350 dunno about the 400D

When I first started to use my modded 350D the first three bits of advice I was given were get the Cannon power supply , use the Astronomik 2" CLS filter and let the sensor "rest" between exposures. The Canon supply comes with false batteries which connect to the charger. ( see pick below)

I do get a small amount of amp glow in the bottom right corner but this is only noticed during severe image stretching.

I have always allowed the camera to rest using 10 secs for 1min images , 30 seconds for 3min and 60 secs for 6min. To be honest I have never tried taking say 5min images with 10secs gap. Next time out I am going to do several test images images to check whether 30sec/60sec gaps are needed at all.
