Celestron CG5 mount with dual axis motor drives

Electrics is not one of my strong point so advise would be appreciated. I have just purchased this new mount with separate motor drives to both axis. Everything works okay but the motors run from 4 type 'D' batteries making it 6 volt. The question is can I use my 12v car jump battery with the cigar lighter to run the motors or will this overload them.

If this is a problem of overload can I purchase some device to reduce the 12v to 6v?
