Wide field Target advice

Hi,

I have recently purchased a SkyWatcher SAM tracking mount. I have a Canon 500d DSLR a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens and a Tamron f/2.8 17-50mm lens. I would like suggestions for good targets for me image and any general advice to a novice.

Anywhere along the Milky Way usually makes for good widefield images.  I was also going to suggest the Orion complex, but it's past prime imaging and you're very far north.

Install Stellarium and turn on DSOs and see where most of them congregate together.  Those areas make for good widefield images.

Auriga and Cassiopeia make good targets at 50mm, they fit in the field of view nicely. The Hyades and Pleiades also can be imaged together. Hope it goes well, should be possible to get some good results and some practise in before the brighter regions of the Milky Way return in the Autumn.
